I feel that I am an advocate for all of humankind - regardless of potentially conflicting points of view - in that, I always place the person before me: first - always before my own personal needs and perceptions. Part of this placing others first before myself may come from my Texan up-bringing where society allows for the personalized politeness and general courtesy that I provide to others.
I wish for the world to consider that some of the negative stigmas attached to Native Texans are untrue. Often, Native Texans are highly intelligent, open-minded, and generous people who care deeply about the various challenges of our collective world.

I make the playground I'm at with my granddaughter, cleaner than we find it. I've done everything from pulling a few weeds out of a pretty flower bed to throwing away trash (safely) and use it as a teaching moment.
Judging a person through a label doesn't allow for knowing them for what's on the inside. Here, it's fun to wear our labels with pride!

Each day is a day to keep smiling and help others to smile around you. Keeping children in the classroom confident about themselves and what they can achieve is a true test of patience but I do with joy, and so do my wonderful colleagues. I love my family and my friends, and I believe that everyone deserves at least a little bit of happiness.
I think the idea of this project simply generates an appreciation of how different we all are... and yet how similar we are, too! It's like that saying, if a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?
