Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I've been a Girl Scout since I was five, and it helped shape who I am today. So, when a group of first graders wanted to start a troop and couldn't find a leader, my mom, sister, and I decided to form a Girl Scout troop for these girls. We were their leaders for 5 years, until I graduated high school. In that time, I watched my little first graders grow into thoughtful and caring girls, and was able to provide a positive role model for them. Oftentimes, there is a stigma that comes with being a Girl Scout, and I wanted to show them that it doesn't matter how others view you, as long as you are doing something you love.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I am a mentor for Workforce Alliance Youth Mentor. I mentor a young teenager from New Haven, giving her gimps at what she can do in her future. Us mentors help motivate the teenagers, push them to attend college and to do better. I also do a lot community service through my sorority Sigma Gamma Rho sorority Inc. We raise awareness for AIDS, Cancer, and the need for Bone Marrow Donors. We teach Children about finances, help them develop essential life skills, deal with peer pressure and negativity, and supply them with school supplies. We also spread the word about living a healthy life style through our H3 initiative (Health choices, Health living, Healthy Generations)
Why are you participating?:

I believe that labels restrict our minds to beautiful amazing people. If we judge just based on the stereotypes, we miss out on an amazing human beings. We are all divers, and when we accept it and bind together we can form beautiful friendships and stop hatred, anger, and misunderstanding.

Tell Us Your Good Deed:
I love being a volunteer reader at Audio Journal, where we broadcast the readings of daily newspapers and magazines, live on air, for people who are blind, vision-impaired or for anyone who cannot access the printed word.
Why are you participating?:

It's my belief that the world would be a much happier place if we accepted each others differences and learned to be less judgmental.
