I've found that labels can be helpful in coming to terms with who you are, but they can be super problematic when it comes to gate-keeping and the negative connotation some labels end up with.

It has been hard to cope with being a survivor of violence and preserve the identities that I'm proud of. Labels can hurt and people don't realize how damaging some can be during recovery.
